The Creative Journey

This 6-week filmmaking program takes students from idea to finished film. Each workshop is an hour and a half and builds new creative skills while guiding them through the full production process.

Workshop 1: Creating Characters + Silent Film (6/9/26 & 7/1/26)

Students build original characters by exploring personality, behavior, and visual storytelling. They learn shot sizes and how framing changes meaning, then create a silent film where emotion and story are told without dialogue.

Workshop 2: Voice Acting (6/16/26 & 7/8/26)

Students explore how sound shapes storytelling. Through guided exercises, they learn to shift tone, pitch, and character voice. The workshop includes re-dubbing animated scenes using their own performances.

Workshop 3: Stop Motion Animation (6/23/26 & 7/15/26)

Students are introduced to stop motion animation and its role in filmmaking history. They build small visual worlds and film a short animated sequence using simple frame-by-frame movement.

Workshop 4: Lighting Emotion (6/30/26 & 7/22/26)

Students explore how color and lighting affect mood and storytelling. They create and film scenes that use lighting intentionally to express emotion and tone.

Workshop 5: Script Writing (7/7/26 & 7/29/26)

Students learn the basics of screenplay writing and how to structure a scene. They develop their own short script and film the opening lines of their story.

Workshop 6: Final Film Production (7/14/26 & 8/5/26)

Students step into full production roles as directors, actors, and crew members. They collaborate to film their final short film, bringing together everything they’ve learned over the program.

“Each workshop builds toward a final film created entirely by the students.”
